A Sustainable Collaboration Between Marasca Samui, Cabanas Beach Club, and the Local Community
At Marasca, we believe sustainability goes beyond reducing waste — it’s about turning everyday actions into meaningful impact. In line with this vision, Marasca Samui and Cabanas Beach Club Koh Samui, led by Mr. Alex Magaton, General Manager, visited Wat Naracharoensuk School to support an ongoing community initiative rooted in circular living and environmental education.
Giving Back Through Green Innovation
As part of our long-term community partnership, the team delivered 50 kilograms of premium plant fertilizer, created from 294 kilograms of food waste generated by the hotels. Using biotech composting technology from Oklin, the transformation process was entirely odor-free and wastewater-free, reducing methane emissions while turning kitchen scraps into nutrient-rich fertilizer safe for agricultural use.
This initiative is a tangible example of how circular economy practices can benefit both the environment and the community.
Hands-on Learning for Future Generations
After the fertilizer handover, the Marasca team joined students in creating a school vegetable garden, providing ingredients for the school’s lunch program. More than just a gardening activity, the garden serves as a living classroom, where students gain hands-on experience in:
- Growing organic vegetables
- Soil enrichment using natural compost
- Daily sustainability practices
- Teamwork, responsibility, and food awareness
Inspiring Environmental Stewardship
"We believe in the power of action and community participation," said Mr. Alex Magaton. "This initiative is not just about sharing resources, but also about inspiring children to see the value in responsible resource management. It's a simple way to nurture environmental awareness through real experiences."
A Lasting Impact Beyond the Classroom
The garden now stands as more than just a food source — it’s a space for curiosity, creativity, and consciousness. Through hands-on participation, students begin to understand the natural cycle: how something once considered “waste” can regenerate new life.
Marasca Samui proudly continues this mission through similar initiatives that blend local engagement, environmental care, and meaningful hospitality — creating experiences that are not only memorable but also responsible.
